Who we are

IDHS Benefits Access ("we", "us", "our") is an independent document preparation service. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or operated by the Illinois Department of Human Services (IDHS) or any other government agency. You can always apply for benefits for free directly at ABE.Illinois.gov.

Information we collect

• Contact details you provide (name, email, phone) when starting an application or contacting support.
• Eligibility responses you enter into our screener (household size, income range, program interests). We do not require Social Security numbers to use the screener.
• Payment information processed by our payment provider (Stripe). We do not store full card numbers on our servers.
• Usage data such as pages viewed, device type, and approximate location, collected through standard server logs and analytics.

How we use information

• To provide our document preparation service and respond to your requests.
• To process payments and send receipts.
• To improve our website, screener accuracy, and customer support.
• To comply with legal obligations and prevent fraud or abuse.

We do not sell your personal information.

Sharing

We share information only with service providers that help us operate (hosting, analytics, email delivery, and payment processing), or when required by law. These providers are bound by contractual obligations to keep information confidential and use it only for the services they provide to us.

Data security

We use industry-standard safeguards including TLS encryption in transit and access controls on stored data. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we work to protect your information and notify you of material incidents as required by law.

Your choices

• Request access to or a copy of the information we hold about you.
• Ask us to correct or delete your information.
• Opt out of marketing emails using the unsubscribe link in any message.
• Illinois residents and others may have additional rights under applicable privacy laws.
